GRIDS Center Community Workshop

Call for Presentations

The organizers of the 2nd Annual GRIDS Center Community Workshop are soliciting presentations from members of cyberinfrastructure (CI) projects in the following areas. Presentations may range from 15 to 45 minutes long and should address one or more of the following topics.

Area 1 - Security 

Descriptions of how your project simplified the user experience related to obtaining and managing Grid security credentials. What strategies and tools are you using?

Descriptions of how your project handled unusual or sophisticated security requirements (for example, integration with existing systems, tricky authorization policies, or auditing requirements).

Descriptions of the challenges ahead for your project regard authentication, authorization, accounting, and auditing.

Area 2 - Software Management 

Descriptions of how your project manages software and service requirements (for example, software/service inventories or service level agreements). 

Descriptions of how your project handles software deployment.

Descriptions of how your project simplifies or unifies the user experience across several independently operated resource provider sites.

Descriptions of software or service verification processes in your project. (Verification of compliance with community/application requirements.)

Description of your project's experience with the GRIDS Center build and test facility.

Descriptions of the challenges ahead for your project regarding software requirements, deployment, and verification.

Area 3 - Portals
Descriptions of the mechanisms used by your portal to utilize production Grid resources (for example: TeraGrid, Grid3, DOE Grid, UK National Grid, or LCG).

Descriptions of how your portal satisfies security requirements (authentication, authorization, accounting, auditing).

Descriptions of the tools your project used to construct your portal.

Descriptions of how your project overcame interesting challenges in building your portal.

Descriptions of the challenges ahead for your project regarding portal development and deployment.

Area 4 - Data Management

Description of how your project:

  • Moves data around

  • Manages data (e.g., access, performance, availability)

  • Manages datasets (e.g., description, inventory, curation, analysis)

Descriptions of the challenges ahead for your project regarding data management.

Area 5 - System Information and Monitoring

Descriptions of what your applications need to know about the system(s) on which they're running.

Descriptions of what your users need to know about the system.

Descriptions of how you collect that information and make it available.

Descriptions of your project's experiences using system information and monitoring tools. 

Descriptions of your project's experiences using more than one production Grid (e.g., TeraGrid, DOE Grid, Grid3, LCG, or UK National Grid).

Descriptions of the challenges ahead for your project regarding system information and monitoring.
